Our trip to the Space and Rocket Center

**The start of our trip**

We all got up very early. I believe this is around 6:30. It opens at 9 and it takes about 2 hrs. to get there..

First we had to walk to the front of the Davidson center to get tickets and we took some photos inside.

Up to this point everything was allright. Our tickets were discounted because they had closed the Saturn V exhibit area. This wasn't really why we were here so no biggie but we were informed that the parking lot we had used would close at 2. Plus they were going to close the Davidson Center at 3 because they were going to give the Amercian Spirit Award of honor to Chelsey Sullenberger (The pilot who landed the plane in the Hudson River)

This would mean if we did not leave before they closed it down we would have had to go in another building and go all around to get to the parking lot.


Let's get to **The Star Wars exhibit**-Why we were here in the 1st place. They had cordoned off a little path, we were led to a place where we were shown a video about U can not use flash photography, please do not take any lightsabers inside, Yada Yada! Then we are led to a door to the exhibit. I look inside and see they have no bathroom so I decide I best go find one.(The exhibit was pretty big) I find out they sorta of lock U inside the exhibit(Yes there is a exit but U are not supposed to go in and out. ) I don't like this one bit!(Unlike the McWane Center where U can as long as you have the clip thingie) On top of this realize that the time in the exhibit is timed. On their website it says U have 2 hrs to look at the exhibit not true especially if U wanted to ride the Millennium Falcon!! It was said that they would only take a certain amount of people a day and it is first come first serve so now we have to rush not only our time in the exhibit but we have to hurry to get to the Millennium Falson.(realize that once U leave the exhibit U are not supposed to go back so if U couldn't get to do any on the hands on stuff tough shit! If U didn't see everything oh Well!) Devin wanted to ride a ride in there but we had to rush to the other and we couldn't backtrack)This totally pissed me off!! Oh if I only knew what was in store for me next...

*The Millennium Falcon*

OMG!! So we get in line this in itself doesn't really bother me because I think it will go pretty fast..Someone tells me they only take 4 at a time and the ride is 4 1/2 min. long. I start doing the math what the Hell!! We will have to stand in line for 30 min for a 4 1/2 min. ride. There is truly something wrong with this picture!!!!!But this is the main thing Devin was excited about so Damn it I'm going to stand in this line no matter how long it takes. Actually it takes 45 min. in line!!! Children were getting restless and one child mumbles beside me can't we just go home? If I wasn't pissedoff before I'm steaming now..The ride was pretty cool (It made U feel like you were actually in space) Was it worth 45 min? I would have to say No!

After this we look at the other stuff A climbing wall which Devin climbs(the wall has different levels of hardness, on the left side easier the right side harder 1-12) Devin picks 11 close to the hardest one. (pics will be on FB) , the Mars Mission ride, gift shop, Army stuff( missiles, etc)

We were on our way home by 2..Boy was I tired!! Devin wants to go back when they have a CSI exhibit(Mom are U reading!) This exhibit will be there Jan. 29, 2011-may 1, 2011 and a Dinosaur one which I believe will be the last exhibit. I will go back even though I think the way the Star Wars exhibit was handled was idiotic!The exhibit itself was very good! My nerd self was pleased!!

Oh I forgot I finally got to eat some Astronaunt food.I've wanted this since I was Devin's age and didn't have the money to get any. Woo-Hoo!!Victory was mine..It was a icecream sandwich and it tasted better than any other icecream I have previously eaten..Just for the above reason...

The Stupidity of Thompson Middle School

My son is technically not in Middle School yet but alas they want to group him this way! Here is my Drama so far. Monday morning my son was putting his clothes on and he started tucking his shirt in. I ask him why are U tucking your shirt in? He said they got on to me..What the Hell!!Not more shit I have to put up with! I said Don't tuck your shirt in if U don't want to and if they say anything tell them to call me..I was told by the principal he would call me at 8:30-9ish guess what it didn't happen..So I call he is in a meeting I said of course he is..2 hours go by I call again I leave a message on his answering machine. Finally I think at 11 or 12 he calls me back. He did look at the shirts and he said Devin could wear one of them..Well that's good! Still I'm more pissed we were not told the dress codes before school started so I wouldn't have bought the damn shirts in the first place..Concerning the shirt tucking issue I don't agree with it but more than that in their own Code of Conduct book is says in section G-Shirts must be tucked in UNLESS designed to be worn on the outside. I consider t-shirts to be made to be worn on the outside. I wear my t-shirts out, so does Darrin so does actually everyone I know wears their t-shirts out. This is the principal's reason why We are doing it for safety reasons.What safety reason I ask His answer because a child could hide a gun in the back.OMG! That is the best U could come up with..Seriously anyone who knows Devin knows first of all the gun would weigh half his body weight. But anyways I know they are grouping everyone the same. So I was wondering if they had measures such as this for the Middle Schoolers how about the High School... So there is a high school boy who gets off the bus at the bus stop. I asked him Do you go to High School? He says yes even I think he was wondering Duh woman anyways I said the reason why I am asking in my son has been getting in trouble for the dress code. I explained. I said Do U have to wear belt? His answer No. Do U have to wear your shirt tucked in? No He told me this was only in 6,7, 8th I told him Thank You and Now I am thinking really? O.k. they are worried about the middle schoolers causing violence but not high schoolers Stupity in extreme. Do some research dickheads and U will see all the worst ten school shootings happened were in High schools or colleges. They were done by high school students, x-high students, or adults. I will admit I did find some instances where violence did occur at a middle school but High School violence had a higher percentage. I can tell him exactly the 10 worst school shootings, the dates, the schools and the ages they were. Now I amnot saying I want High School to be stricter in Dress codes but damn it if you are going to single out a group of kids and say they have to wear it this way because violence can occur U better have the facts to show me that they do indeed have a higher violence rate than High schoolers. All the evidence points to the contrary..Do some research idiots.It's not hard I did it in less than 5 min. So as it is right now if Devin does not want to tuck in his shirt and they say something he is supposed to tell them to call me..I told that Principal that I could actually take him to court over this..To me I am following what the code of conduct book says. If they press the issue I will get a lawyer. Unless he can show me that the violence is higher in the middle school versus high school this will be a fight..Don't pick on one group of kids and not the other....

So Freaking pissed at my son's school I'm literally shaking!!

Oh My God! My son comes home and starts taking papers out of his bookbag.(So I can sign his conduct sheet) He says to me I told them my shirts were cool..So I'm skimming the conduct sheet and at the bottom it says "Devin is not allowed to wear any clothing with a skull on it.It is the code.She said I explained it to him and then she says something totally bitchy like maybe it could be a Saturday/or Sunday shirt. Furthermore it states that Devin has to wear a belt everyday". My son wears blue jean shorts with a adjustable waist. I had the buttons as tight as it would be comfortable to wear. Second of all since my son has a tiny waist it is very hard to find him a belt. His shorts are not sagging..The shirts Devin is wearing are clothes that I found at Sears and Wal-Mart. He picked those shirts out because he did not want to look "babyish", He wanted to look more grown-up and "cool".Also there were not that many choices out there for his size. They say Skulls are Satanic. What the hell!!The skulls are more like art/stylized. I told the principal Look I can not afford a new school wardrobe for Devin!!With this economy most parents can only buy what they can, if they can. My son is 12. He doesn't even know what Satanic means...So now half of his wardrobe he can't wear!! I told the principal Do you know how embarrasing it is to know U bought your child brand new clothes now he will have to wear faded shirts from last year..I also told him this is not the way a new school should be. To give parents unnecessary stress with the way the economy is..He said I had to get on to a girl today wearing cut-off blue jean shorts. I said did U ever think that is all she had, That was the only thing her parents could afford. Now is not the time to be picky with what children wear!! So He said ok we will work with U. Just put the shirts in his bookbag and I will see what they look like and make a determination. I mean half of his wardrobe was skulls..It was not in a bad way either not like with red eyes, blood dripping, whatever. I told him as long as my child is doing his work why make a big deal about his clothes!!I mean really as long as the other kids in his class are not being disturbed by it(meaning can't concentrate) what is the big deal about clothes!!I told him if U can find a belt fine but I couldn't find one one that would fit his tiny waist without the belt sticking out..I told him I was looking forward to this new school and this is not how to start a new year off!! So his Principal is supposed to call me Moday after he looks at his shirts!! Now I'm so freaking upset I didn't even make supper so we are going out to eat!I hate dealing with schools with their idiotic rules!!Hey in the real world U can just about wear anything!It's all so needlessly pointless. What is the point of all males and females wearing belts in school? If their pants are not drooping?OMG today might be the day where I start smoking again.For months I've told myself I will not, I will not!!But I have never been this stressed where I am actually so mad I'm freaking shaking!!I wished I could homeschool my child putting up with the school system is totally ridiculous!!I hated going to freaking school and I hate having to deal with the crap they put me through!! I am so freaking glad I only have one child!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!They do not realize how I hate even going to a parent/teacher meeting but I go and I am a good parent. I try to work with them and I used to always buy their wishlists on top of school supplies. That is when I believed in the system. Over the years I have learned nothing has changed...It's still a hellhole!I have to go now because I'm freaking hungry and the more I think about it the more I get angry...I need to take a breather!!

Today is starting to be a Bad day already!!

So my morning starts out with my son hitting me with his Nintendo DS right when the bus pulls up. Why? I have no freaking idea. I had told him all U have to do is be good for one more day and I will get U your reward. I bought it yesterday from Lakeside collection. The problem occured when I told him it will take a couple of weeks to get here. He thought it would just take a couple of days. Well beside the point hitting is unacceptable. I wished I had time to whup his little butt this morning but I didn't!!Well what he doesn't know is he is grounded. I hid his DS, I hid his Ipod, He is going to bed at 7 o'clock, and no cartoons for him!! The stupid thing is his dad got him a new DS game just the other day and he pulls this shit!! Then I get a call from his teacher. Devin does not have his glasses. I actually realized this when I went in his room to get my DS that he has confiscated! I told the teacher he needs to learn to be responsible. I told her I will have a conversation with him about it and that I was sorry I had to be this way. She said We understand on our end.. just do what U need to do..Another thing he is supposed to go over multiplication cards everday. I went over some Monday and I haven't seen them since. I wrote a little note telling the teacher this the other day.I thought maybe it was a mistake on their part..Well Hell No! I'm looking for a marker because I'm making a remember list to tape to Devin's wall and guess what I find hid the Multiplication cards!!So I write a Apology note to his teacher explaining the misunderstanding. So now He has to study more because for 2 days he has not studied. I wanted to do a little a a time...Ugh!!It's days like this I either need a cigarette or a drink LOL

Devin's 1st day of 6th grade

Yep Today was the first day of school!! It's a new school and a new bus for my little guy.. He rides the bus with middle schoolers but it's going to be o.k. The 6th graders have to sit in the front:) I don't feel like the older ones will pick on him now...

Today we went to Build A Bear and Devin got a Peace Bear. He still has to help me around the house since I bought his little bear a outfit and spent more than I wanted. We went to Yu Garden to eat some lunch and then went to Headstart to get Devin a haircut. The Damn place wasn't even open!!

*Warning rant ahead* What's up with places being closed on Sunday. O.k. I get some people want to go to church but some people can only do stuff on Sunday. If U are a business I think U should be open 7 days a week!!It doesn't have to be all day but dang it U should still be opened. This really bugs me..It's like everything stops and towns are ghost towns on Sunday in Alabama!!

Anyways Darrin called the one in Helena and they were opened! Just the people at the Alabaster one were a bunch of LAZY Bums. So Darrin took Devin to get a haircut. Darrin got a little trim too at the back cause he said I didn't do it correctly. Well I didn't go to school to be a hairdresser nor do I get paid for cutting your hair!! You can take how I cut it or U can pay someone..

**Just a recipe I enjoy*

This is sorta like Jambalya to us. It's very simple but very good and filling!!

1 pd. jalepeno & cheese smoked sausage(I either get it from D.J's or Wal-Mart)

1 bx of Uncle Ben's Long Grain Wild rice

1 can Ro-tel Hot tomatoes

opt. on the side slices Avacado and sour cream.

He's been a little lippy to his grandmother and plus he really wanted a Icecream bear from Build a Bear which they don't have anymore. It's good that I told him this after he helped me :) He cleaned his own bathroom, vacummed the living room and our bedroom, and washed the dishes..We are going to Build a Bear Sunday to get him a Peace bear I believe for him helping around the house.
